High School Season Information Nearby high schools have a strong volleyball tradition including multiple state championship appearances for Chapel Hill, East Chapel Hill, Orange, and Cedar Ridge high schools. If we look at the entire PAC 6 conference, from 2000 to 2007 a PAC 6 team was in the state 4A playoff match 6 of those 8 years. In North Carolina, the NCHSAA is the organizing body for most high school volleyball. The largest schools are in the 4A conferences and the smallest are in the 1A conferences. The four size groupings sometimes play each other during out of conference play and most notably in the Great 8 tournament that pits the previous year's state champions and runner-ups against each other. There is also an independent association. Some excellent volleyball is played there but it has far fewer teams than the NCHSAA. The closest local schools are in the PAC 6 (4A) or Mid-State (2A) conference. There is also a middle school conference called OPAC in this area but I have not found enough information about their matches to try to track them. |
